MARSEC Corporation has been awarded the DET NORSKE VERITAS New York (DNV) Certificate of Approval for its Security Officer Training Course, on behalf of the United States Coast Guard National Maritime Center (NMC) and the United States Maritime Administration (MARAD).

MARSEC Corporation has enhanced its VSO/FSO/CSO training to include the new rules for the Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) and guidance on defensive measures to help protect against acts of piracy.. In addition to familiarization with the maritime security regulations contained in 33 CFR Subchapter H (101, 104 & 105), persons taking the VSO/FSO/CSO are trained on TWIC requirements, anti-piracy advisories, and are shown how significant costs potentially associated with compliance with these new rules can best be limited. Class attendees will receive course manuals along with a CD-ROM packed with helpful references, which are useful for training your personnel with security duties.

VESSEL, COMPANY AND FACILITY SECURITY OFFICER
This course will meet the STCW training requirements for Vessel Security Officer. Course is in compliance with the following standards: Regulations 13.1, 13.2 (Part A and B), and 18.1 (Part A and B) of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and IMO Model Course 3.19 Ship Security Officer (2003) edition), IMO Model Course 3.20 Company Security Officer (2003 Edition) and IMO Model Course 3.21 Port Facility Security Officer (2003 Edition)





MARSEC will provide training for complete compliance including:

Hazwoper First Responder (OSHA Regs 29 C.F.R. 1910.120) - properties of hazardous chemicals, hazard recognition and assessment and evaluation, PPE, notifications, response, industry.

Safety - develop a company or site specific safety plan.

Response - from how to respond to managing an incident.

Grants - develop a grant application under agency requirements.

Port Security - Awareness and Supervisor Levels.

Incident Command System - The National Interagency Incident Management System levels 100-400 are taught. Includes exercise development and management. Items of discussion include emergency response key elements such as pre-emergency planning, personnel roles, line of authority, training and communications, safe distances, site security, evacuation routes, decontamination, emergency first aid, response procedures, PPE, critique of response, labels, placards and Material Safety Data Sheets.
